It’s time to relive another iconic summer Spanish wedding of ours!
Summer 2020 may have well and truly been taken off the books, but we can’t lie – we are really enjoying our time reminiscing over some of our most memorable weekends of the last few years🌞
This one was a 3 day affair set in sunny Spain last year, so sit back, relax and soak in la fiesta de Laura y Rene💃
Laura and Rene held their spectacular summer Spanish wedding celebration across three days in the pastoral Spanish countryside. The couple’s chosen venue was an 11th century monastery located in the picturesque province of Valladolid, just north of Madrid.
The monastery, which has been converted by Castilla Termal into a deluxe hotel and spa, is surrounded by
luscious olive vineyards which provide a breathtaking and peaceful hour-long drive up to the venue and a beautiful view from the poolside.
We knew this was going to be a special one. In the twelve-month run up to the event, everything had been planned to perfection (by wedding planning extraordinaire, Jane Riddell). The presence of A-list global superstars, Ashanti and Ja Rule, gave the weekend a thrillingly exclusive atmosphere.
When we arrived on the morning of the ceremony, the poolside area was our sound-check space.
Naturally, we took full advantage of the outdoor pool whilst soaking in the Spanish sun and overlooking rolling hills of countryside spotted with lemon trees.
The ceremony was held in the late afternoon and Laura walked down the aisle to the stunning voice of Ashanti.
Laura was dressed in a bespoke Galia Lahav wedding gown and Jimmy Choo diamante heels.
The couple spoke their vows, illuminated in afternoon sunlight, while standing on a raised stage surrounded by 200 seated guests who watched Laura and Rene announced “hombre y mujer” after nine years together. The ceremony was a uniquely special event with the profound words of the marriage officiant resonating throughout the stone courtyard
“the desire and the ability for one human being to love another is perhaps the most precious and fulfilling gift that has been bestowed on us.”
Drinks were then served in the cistercian courtyard as Mic Lowry serenaded guests and mingled among the merrymakers.
The guest tables were decorated with large centerpieces featuring an eye-catching mixture of light and dark pink roses accompanied by golden candelabras holding ivory candles.
Food was served as the couple took their place on a soft pink sofa behind the head table, which was layered in more golden candelabras provided by White House Crockery and beautiful floral arrangements designed by Paula Rooney.
The courtyard was centerpieced by a magnificent eight-tier wedding cake made by Elizabeth’s Cake Emporium.
The evening’s entertainment consisted of performances by Ja Rule, Ashanti and Mic Lowry, followed by an hour-long set by The White Keys in the form of a 10 piece band complete with four singers and a horn section.
The following day, celebrations continued with a spectacular White Party BBQ held poolside with DJ Irwin providing the entertainment while guests were treated to sushi and cocktails.
We spent the morning of the final day grabbing a bite of breakfast close to the venue, surrounded by the traditional sights and smells of a blissfully peaceful Spanish village.
Overall, Laura and Rene’s Spanish destination wedding was a spectacular affair filled with stunning decor, incredible entertainment and idyllic views. The notable presence of music legends Ashanti and Ja Rule afforded the exquisite three-day summer celebration an aura of elegance and glitz that we will never forget!
